Running Time: Approx. 20 minutes
In only twenty years the twin cities of Jubail on the Arabian Gulf and Yanbu on the Red Sea coast have grown to become the cornerstones of Saudi Arabia’s industrial development.
Today over 140 companies produce almost half of the countries industrial output. The cities are home to 150,000 people including experts, workers and their families from 50 different countries. While nearly 20 billion dollars was invested to build and maintain these centres emphasis was also placed on the quality of life. Housing, schools, hospitals, recreational and training facilities have all been built to the highest international standards.
The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu designed, constructed and has operated the cities since the beginning. Recently it completed the necessary infrastructure for a major new phase of industrial growth. Overseas partners continue to make major commitments and extensive port facilities feed products directly to the centres of world trade.
Its goal is to build long term partnerships, ensuring that Saudi Arabia’s industrial ambitions will be fully realised in the 21st century.
